★★★★★“Starbucks has nothing on this place. Decided to stop in one day with a cousin and was very impressed with the quality of the coffee and tea. I would also recommend the delicious blueberry scones. Quiet respite from the noisy world we live in.”

★★★★★“Perfect little off beaten coffee house.. used to be an old bank.. they have precious seating in the bank vault.. Walls laced with nostalgia settled in downtown Opelousas amongst street murals and oak trees.. the staff is very friendly, talkative, and accommodating! Drinks were superb and whip cream was delish!”

★★★★★“Java Square is my go-to coffee shop. I love their lattes, my friends enjoy their freddas, but the friendliness and courtesy from the workers is the main reason for my continued support of this business. I had the matcha fredda today!! It was sooooo good!”

★★★★★“Stopped at this little jewel on my way home from Louisiana to Florida. This little coffee shop is really cool. It was formerly a bank, as you can see by the photos. Said the vault still works and, they said if you are looking, for a quiet place to sip your coffee you Can go inside the little room, (the vault) and sit at the table and have your coffee. The coffwe was great as well.”

★★★★★“My hubby and I go here all the time, It never takes the ladies a long time to get our order out to us. It's a peaceful, friendly, quiet place to get a hot/cold coffee, tea, or a snack. The food is hot and fresh, and your drink is made in front of you. The best place to sit if you want to be alone is in the bank safe. It's set up so cute with a table and chairs for your computer work as you drink a coffee. It's more like a private area and also has a bench in case you have friends who also love coffee ☕️ 😉. There's also lots of different areas set up to sit at inside. My favorite is sitting in the comfey stool, in front of the big window drinking my coffee. Always neat and clean inside and outside of Business.”

★★★★★“this is a cute, small shop with a clean inside, and good coffee. The barista was very friendly and attended to our order right away. Will be back!”

★★★★★“My favorite is a Sugar & Spice Frappe w/ the works and an extra shot of expresso plus a sleeve on the cup to help prevent the heat from my hand to melt my frozen coffee drink faster than usual.”

★★★★★“I was visiting my boyfriend in Opelousas and was craving a good cup of coffee so I did a google search and found this little GEM. You guys run to this place!!!!! Not only was the coffee just the right temp, but the taste was amazing and the texture was as smooth as silk. Omg and the home made fresh baked scones were delicious!!!! Oh yea and not to mention I asked for an actual coffee mug and wouldn't you know it they came through. I don't know about y'all but there's something to be said about having a great cup of coffee in an actual mug and not a to go cup. It gives me all the warm and fuzzy's and brings me back. Many times, I've gone to coffee shops where the coffee taste burnt and the snacks are not good. This place had some of the best coffee I've had in a long time. And you guys the atmosphere was so cool!!!! The building the shop is in was originally constructed in 1928 by Parish Bank & Trust. They actually kept some of the original construction so it makes it for interesting conversation and a great chill vibe. If you find yourself traveling through Opelousas or even live here and haven't been by Java Square you're definitely missing out. Stop by and ask for Carson he'll make you the best cup of coffee ever. You won't be disappointed.”

★★★★★“This is a precious downtown spot for coffee! I popped in while in the area for work and was delighted. The two employees were super friendly and helpfully had a turkey and provolone croissant and it was so fresh and delicious. I wish I lived closer. ★★★★★“The best coffee shop in Opelousas and one of the best around. It is located in an old bank and the vault is still intact that you can also sit in and even submit a social media picture for 10% off. I don't do that though because the purchases also get really good points which I accrue daily that can be redeemed for 10% off and even free drinks and pastries. The building is old and charming too. ★★★★★“Opelousas, LA. You can sip a fine brew in their ancient bank vault area that looks like a jail cell or join those working remotely in the front room. Free limited parking on the side or in front of this cute corner shop. Businesses that offer well-crafted coffee are extremely limited in this town so if you’re passing through this is worth the drive—-plus there is a courthouse across the street that has beautiful landscaping, local artists’ artwork with a Louisiana flair, murals and statues.”

★★★★★“Beautiful place, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious snacks or sandwiches, and they make you coffee, frap., Etc. just the way you want it. This is one of my favorite places in Opelousas. They also have a good reward system. It's definitely a place to go and relax, sip on your caramel frappuccino white chocolate topping, read your favorite book or listen to your favorite podcast, and eat you a delicious turkey and provolone cheese croissant. If you are passing through and want to stop for a few minutes to relax I definitely recommend this a spot to do so. They have information on some up and coming community events. They also have some beautiful art around the area. It's also a historical place it was once a bank and it still has that kind of vibe mixed with an update coffee shop, art show vibe.”

★★★★★“Went Opelousas to take a friend to her doctors appt early in the morning. Decided I needed a good cup of coffee so I googled and found this place was 7 minutes away. My Americano with almond milk was decent. I am not a serious coffee drinker. My gold standard is Starbucks Americano. It has chocolatety taste and it's a dark strong brew. The winner here was the coconut pecan coffee cake muffin. Outstanding. There was a drizzle of cream cheese icing on top which I wiped off (dairy allergy). I was told their baked goods came from a local woman.”

★★★★☆“This is a cute coffee shop where you can sit down and relax for a while. They have a few options for sandwiches, and they also offer a couple of options for savory and sweet pastries. Service is not super fast. They only have 2 people, but they are super kind. This is a relax paced coffee shop, so you don't really mind waiting for a few minutes. They have the almond milk option if you wish to substitute. Our Zydeco and Mardi Gras sandwiches were very good, as well as our almond milk hot chocolates. We will definitely come back next time we visit Opelousas.”

★★★☆☆“This coffee spot has so much potential. We stopped in for morning coffee and snacks on a road trip. The historic character of the building is wonderful. It looks to have been renovated from an old bank, with a gorgeous safe door, terrazo floors, and period windows. Extremely comfortable couches and the most gorgeous bar stools for seating at the large front bay windows. However, the service was very slow. We spent about 30 minutes waiting for a single latte, a bottle of juice, and a pastry from the box. This was on a Friday morning, and the location was not too busy. The staff were so kind, however, answering our questions and interacting with our kiddo. Finally, my coffee order came out incorrect (iced instead of hot). The staff was very apologetic and offered to fix it, but we had to scoot and get beck on the road. The espresso itself tasted bitter and burnt (still drank it though, because caffeine is caffeine). I don't know too much about thw coffee offerings in this town. But I can definitwly see this being THE place to go once they work out the kinks.”
— Samantha Pollock · Google
★★★☆☆“The atmosphere, service, and quality of the coffee were all great. The concern I have is that a week after my visit my wife's email was sent an unsolicited notification from the coffee shop asking for birthday information. All I did at the coffeeshop was pay for a drink with my credit card and use wifi. I have no idea how they got my wife's email and how I was automatically signed up to their mailing list. This privacy/spam issue needs to be addressed by the coffeeshop. My wife and I live outside of Louisiana and had never visited the coffeeshop before. Neither of us signed up for their loyalty program, so it seems we were automatically signed up for it by using the credit card. I have no idea how their system got her email address. Beware.”

★★★★★“What a charming little coffee spot in downtown Opelousas! I was visiting town and decided to stop in for a cold brew, and it was good, pretty regular coffee! What I enjoyed most was the aesthetic of the building..it's a historic Opelousas bank turned coffee shop, and I was amazed! The door to the safe still exists, and they've repurposed the inside of the safe to a cute little semi-private seating nook. To top it off, the super friendly barista graciously gave me a bit of history about the bank and area! I definitely recommend for visitors and locals alike!”

★★★★★“Love going here. The service is amazing and the coffee even better. The space is really chill and open and I love watching the cars pass while drinking a cup of coffee. Definitely recommended this place if you love the aesthetics of it all...”
— Liz L. · Yelp
★★★★★“Coffee was great and love the lightly funky ambiance. The "vault" is a cool place to sit and relax while partaking of the Java Square menu. We split a pesto turkey sandwich and it was delicious. Very friendly staff and patrons. Opelousas needed a place like this - respecting the older buildings and features but bringing a fresh, new feeling and menu to the downtown.”
— Alyssa W. · Yelp
★★★★★“Java Square is such a darling little coffee shop, and such a breath of fresh air from the chain coffee shops that riddle the cities! It is beautifully decorated, and very clean as well! There are plenty of tables to sit and stay away, chat, or work/study too! The employees are so sweet, and they make a meeeaaannn vanilla latte. So deliciously sweet and creamy! In addition to coffee, they have a plentiful selection of options to nibble on. Stop in to patronize a small business by visiting Java Square. Your tastebuds will be happy!”
— Alexandra F. · Yelp
★★★★★“What a pleasant little coffee shop in the heart of Opelousas! I stopped in on a Sunday morning for a bit of go-juice, and my barista was nothing but a pleasure to work with. My coffee was tasty and everyone seemed to be socially distancing. I'd happy stop back here again.”
— Michael H. · Yelp
★★★★★“Great little full-service coffee shop on the SE corner of the Opelousas Courthouse Square. Try a praline latte for a southern treat. They are located in a historic bank building, and the interior is awesome. They even have a secluded seating area in the old vault.”
— Keith H. · Yelp
★★★★★“This is a little gem I found walking around downtown Opelousas that I plan on frequenting during my stay here. It just opened a few days ago and so far they are doing a great job! The building was previously used as a bank, and you can tell by the bank vault directly across from the entrance. The bank vault is now a little serenity or reading room with comfortable furniture and cool coffee-related decorations. The coffee was quite delicious and affordable. I didn't try any of the food but plan on doing so on my next visit. The staff is very friendly and the owner's kids were hanging out too giving it a fun, family friendly vibe. The shop has free wifi so I plan on going back to make the cafe my study spot, especially because it has really great lighting. I think Java Square is a great addition to downtown and an interesting repurposing of space. I'm wishing this place much success!”
— Gabriela M. · Yelp
★★★★★“Coffee is better than you'll find anywhere in town, great atmosphere in a historic building. Don't sleep on the lunch sandwiches.”

★★★★★“Great little find! We stopped by for breakfast on our way home to Baton Rouge after seeing it on Yelp. The building is super charming and old. The exposed vault was pretty cool. You don't see that everyday! The baristas were very polite and helpful. The coffee drinks were perfect, the hot chocolate was delicious, and all of our food was excellent. We had a blueberry scone, banana nut muffin, huge biscuit, and a Mardi Gras sandwich. I recommend all of these items! My little girl really wanted a hot chocolate, so the barista made her a child-friendly cup. Great place - highly recommend for breakfast, brunch, light lunch or snack.”
— Jannean D. · Yelp
★★★★★“The downtown area is really quaint. When you sit in this little cafe, you are actually sitting in an old jailhouse. Cool part is, you can actually enjoy a book while sitting in an oldschool cell. All the while, you get a beautiful view of the old courthouse/municipal building for the city and parish. There is plenty of seating upstairs, too. Very clean and wide open, it is decorated with many funky trinkets and oddities from a variety of eras. I really enjoy their mixed espresso drinks, but they also have some good sandwiches. Its a nice little spot off the beaten path, and a very hip, city vibe for being in such a small town out in the country. I've been here half a dozen times, and still really enjoy it.”
— Aaron F. · Yelp
★★★★★“Excellent experience! The kids LOVED playing in the old bank vault and we all enjoyed taking goofy tourist pictures looking like we were in jail. The staff was friendly and super knowledgeable/helpful. Coffee was delicious. Bathrooms were nice. The whole place was clean.”
— Karen B. · Yelp

— Seth T. · Yelp

Their Java Frappes are absolutely the best, and their service is always fast! I love the fact that you are able to call in ahead of time as well, it is a convenance not normally known to coffee shops.”
— Macie C. · Yelp

★★★★★“Driving from Baton Rouge to Dallas - found this little gem along the way. Pulled up on a rainy, Sunday morning. The young man working the counter was so friendly and warm. He was helpful in suggesting drinks that even impressed my coffee-connoisseur husband. I really wanted a latte and ham and cheese croissant. While I knew this would be hard to find, Java Square did not disappoint! In addition to the wonderful ambience, the food was wonderful. I wish Dallas had a coffee shop with a vault in it! Such a cool, small shop.”
— Hannah R. · Yelp

— Rick S. · Yelp
★★★★★“What a delight! Great mocha - dark, complex blend of chocolate and coffee, not some sicky-sweet cup of cocoa. Great atmosphere, too, and a bathroom that's actually wheelchair accessible in a charming old Louisiana building. Great barista. Just sorry I don't live here!”
— Diane M. · Yelp
★★★★★“I raise my cup to the all around great place to fill up on: coffee, entertainment, local ppl and businesses and that spot out of towner's; love meeting at! ★★★★★“Great service, good coffee & a really good roast beef sandwich. You can sit and enjoy the music with good company, or enjoy the free WI-FI. It is a great place to hang out. They also have a variety of muffins and other light lunch type foods. They will even press the sandwiches for you, if you prefer a warm sandwich. Again the roast beef sandwich I highly recommend.”

— Steve S. · Yelp

— Brad K. · Yelp
★★★★☆“I always admire the idea of repurposing buildings, and this cafe is actually in a place formerly used as a bank, with its vault still "in tact" inside, with additional seating installed right there. We ordered sandwiches (which get heated in a panini press) and an iced Mocha. Lovely place to visit when in the area.”
— Edita G. · Yelp
★★★★☆“I drink plain black coffee, its pretty much all I order. The Coffee here is quite good, and fairly strong the way I like it. I had a scone here on a whim once, quite tasty.”
— Mary B. · Yelp

— Linda C. · Yelp
★★★★☆“I am from Nashville TN and am very used to conveniences. The hours make sense. It is open when I want/need a coffee! I would love a drive-thru option & more specialty/flavored drinks, but am not complaining because I can get real coffee drinks other than during lunchtime! Very pleased.”
— Terri A. · Yelp
★★★☆☆“We came here looking for breakfast for us and our kids. But there wasn't much food options, just a few selections and more drink options. It is more comparable to a coffee shop than cafe. The old safe was fun for the kids to check out while we waited for our order. The special drink was interesting but a bit sweet after a while. The boudin was average.”
— Jennifer N. · Yelp
★★★☆☆“Stopped in here for coffee on a Saturday morning a little after 8. The coffee was good tho, so I'll probably go back and hope the employees are having a better day.”
— Janaya M. · Yelp
★★★☆☆“We drive from Denton, Texas to New Orleans often, and try to stop here each time. It's a nice road trip break, right on a downtown square.”
— Jenny D. · Yelp
★★★☆☆“It is very easy to pass. I did, twice. It is located at a downtown intersection. The inside is neat and charming. It reflects a very old possibly historical building. The staff was fine. I decided to try the Apple Cinnamon scone. It was a bit dense but moist with a light apple flavor. The latte was good. There is a large selection of flavor add ins. I got the Toasted Marshmallow. I enjoyed the flavor but wished it was stronger. Maybe a double shot would be better.”
— Toi T. · Yelp
★★★★★“This is the best coffee shop in Opelousas. They do some great hot and iced coffee as well as tea. Nice smaller pastry selection also. All of the pastries are delicious. The staff is always friendly and the owner as well. Located in a very old bank where you can go inside the old vault and take a picture on social media for a discount. They also offer great discounts for regulars by using your phone number.”
